Design for the restoration of an antique flat in the heart of Milan. The design method, deriving from a dialogue with the client, focused on the reorganisation of the spaces by using a functional distributive element that, for the whole length of the flat, subdivides and articulates the different spaces.
The functional element is given by a timber full height container, enclosing different functions. A sort of box that follows and articulates the whole internal surface.
The other fundamental element of the project is provided by the original finishes, recovered as a result of a careful restoration, necessary in order to ensure historical continuity.
The floors, the marble finishes in the bathrooms, the plaster on the ceilings recall the origins of the flat and enclose its history.
The articulation of the different spaces creates the premises for a contemporary use of the whole flat.
